Fjord House Nordic Retreat in Copenhagen
A Quiet Expression of Light, Nature and Scandinavian Living
In Copenhagen, light is never simply decoration. It changes the way an interior is experienced.
Fjord House is a conceptual retreat imagined by Sentta, exploring Nordic furniture design through natural timber, tactile upholstery and sculptural forms shaped around the quieter rituals of everyday life.
Morning light enters through expansive windows and travels slowly across pale architecture, warm wood and textured fabrics.
There is space between objects. Nothing competes unnecessarily for attention. Every element has room to breathe.
The atmosphere draws from the principles that have made Scandinavian interiors so enduring: simplicity without austerity, functionality without coldness and an instinctive relationship between material, form and human comfort.
Within this setting, the Auro Collection introduces a furniture language that feels both architectural and deeply welcoming.
The Auro Armchair establishes the collection’s character through a carefully balanced relationship between solid timber and soft upholstery. Its silhouette is clear and confident, yet restrained enough to coexist naturally with the calm architecture around it.
This balance is central to Nordic furniture design.
Decoration gives way to proportion. Materials are allowed to express themselves. Details exist because they contribute to the experience of the piece rather than simply attracting attention.
The Auro Lounge Chair brings that philosophy closer to the ground.
Its relaxed posture changes the rhythm of the room, creating a place for reading, conversation or simply watching the Copenhagen light change throughout the afternoon.
As Fjord House moves towards the kitchen and social areas, the Auro Bar Stool and Auro Swivel Bar Stool translate the same design language vertically.
At the counter, the swivel version introduces movement into an otherwise serene composition. A guest can turn towards the kitchen, towards the room or towards another person without leaving the seat—a subtle functional detail particularly suited to contemporary bars, restaurants and hospitality interiors.
Together, the Auro pieces show how one coherent furniture collection can move between dining, lounge and bar environments without making an interior feel repetitive.
That versatility also connects Fjord House to a wider evolution in Scandinavian hospitality furniture and contemporary contract design.
Hotels, restaurants and social spaces increasingly borrow from residential interiors, looking for furniture that provides professional performance while preserving warmth and emotional comfort.
Natural timber contributes to that feeling. So does upholstery. But perhaps the greatest effect comes from proportion: furniture generous enough to welcome the body while remaining visually light within the architecture.
Although imagined in Copenhagen, Fjord House is less about reproducing a Scandinavian aesthetic than understanding the philosophy behind it.
It is about removing what is unnecessary so that what remains can be appreciated more fully.
The grain of wood. The texture of fabric. Morning light across an armrest. A chair turned towards someone arriving.
Nordic simplicity without austerity. Function without coldness. Furniture that leaves enough space for life to happen around it.
