Neptune Restaurant in Bloomsbury, London
Modern British Dining Shaped by Seasonality, Craft and Contemporary Design
In the heart of Bloomsbury, British ingredients take centre stage.
Neptune is a modern British neighbourhood restaurant celebrating seasonal produce and the craftsmanship behind it.
From oysters and shellfish sourced from independent growers across the UK to wood-fire grilled dishes including dry-aged Yorkshire beef and fresh fish from Cornwall, the menu is shaped by provenance, seasonality and a respect for quality ingredients.
The interior provides a warm, contemporary setting for that experience.
Within it, the Essex Armchair by Sentta introduces an understated sense of elegance, combining generous comfort with a distinctly cosmopolitan character.
Designed by Javier Gomez and inspired by New York, Essex brings an urban perspective to the relaxed atmosphere of this Bloomsbury restaurant.
For the project, the armchair is handcrafted in ash wood, finished in brown pewter and upholstered in cotton velvet.
The contrast between the timber structure and soft upholstery introduces warmth and texture while maintaining the confident proportions that define the Essex Collection.
In a restaurant where ingredients and cooking methods are treated with such attention, the tactile qualities of the interior become part of the wider experience.
Natural materials, upholstery, lighting and furniture create the environment in which the food is enjoyed.
The Essex Armchair contributes to that relationship through comfort without excess.
Its upholstered form encourages guests to settle into the dining experience, while its structured silhouette gives the interior a refined contemporary identity.
This balance is particularly important when specifying restaurant furniture in London, where dining spaces often need to establish a memorable identity within highly individual neighbourhoods.
Bloomsbury has its own character. Neptune responds with a restaurant experience that feels contemporary while remaining approachable—a place shaped as much by the quality of its ingredients as by the atmosphere surrounding the table.
Furniture becomes an important part of creating that atmosphere. Unlike many elements within an interior, a dining chair is experienced continuously throughout a meal.
Guests see it when they enter. They touch it when they sit down. They experience its proportions and comfort throughout lunch or dinner. And collectively, the chairs establish much of the visual rhythm of the dining room.
At Neptune, Essex performs both roles. It is functional furniture designed for the dining experience, but it is also part of the restaurant’s visual language.
The wider Essex Collection extends the same cosmopolitan character across a sofa, lounge chair, armchair, counter stool, bar stool and daybed, allowing designers to carry a consistent aesthetic through different seating environments.
This versatility makes the collection particularly relevant to hospitality projects, where dining areas, bars and lounge spaces may each require different seating typologies while remaining part of the same interior identity.
At Neptune, however, the Essex Armchair has a focused role.
It creates the place from which the restaurant is experienced.
Around it, seasonal British ingredients arrive at the table. Shellfish reflects the country’s coastline. Yorkshire beef meets the wood fire. Fresh Cornish fish connects the restaurant in central London with producers far beyond the city.
The furniture provides the setting for those stories to unfold.
British produce without pretence. Cosmopolitan design without formality. A neighbourhood restaurant where craft extends from the kitchen to the dining room.
