Birmingham’s industrial heritage becomes part of contemporary residential life at The Silver Yard, a Build to Rent development designed around the history of its location and the expectations of 21st-century living.
Developed for Grainger PLC, The Silver Yard pays tribute to Birmingham’s historic connection to the manufacturing of silverware. Its interior design combines classic and contemporary aesthetics, interpreting this heritage through a modern residential perspective. TEN reimagined the development’s on-site amenities to bring luxury, comfort and a sense of home to residents, creating shared environments that feel connected to both the history of Birmingham and contemporary ways of living.
Within these residential interiors, the Goa Lounge Chair by Sentta introduces warmth through a restrained and timeless design language. Part of the Goa Collection, designed by Francesc Rifé Studio, the lounge chair reflects an approach to furniture that bridges industrial and interior design. Inspired by the serene landscapes and atmosphere of Goa, the collection is characterised by clean lines, balanced proportions and an understated aesthetic that allows it to integrate naturally into contemporary spaces.
The Goa Lounge Chair complements TEN’s approach to The Silver Yard, where classic and contemporary influences come together within amenities designed to feel comfortable and residential. Its generous proportions create an inviting place to pause, while the clarity of its silhouette allows the piece to sit naturally within the wider interior concept.
This relationship is particularly relevant when selecting Build to Rent furniture in Birmingham. Shared residential environments need to respond to everyday use while creating the comfort and sense of home that residents expect from contemporary developments. Furniture becomes part of that experience, helping transform public spaces and amenities into environments where residents can relax, connect and spend time beyond their individual apartments.
At The Silver Yard, this sits within a broader interior concept shaped by Birmingham itself. Rather than separating the development from its location, TEN used the city’s connection to historic silverware manufacturing as a point of reference, combining classic and contemporary aesthetics to celebrate local history through a contemporary eye.
TEN’s scope encompassed Public Space Interior Design, Custom Joinery Design, FF&E Specification & Procurement, Stages 1–5, Visualization, Styling and Installation, creating a comprehensive approach to the development’s shared residential environments.
The wider Goa Collection extends the same design language across a dining chair, armchair, lounge chair and bar stool, allowing designers to create continuity between different seating environments while adapting to the function of each space. Its balanced proportions and understated character make the collection particularly suited to interiors where furniture needs to contribute to the overall identity without overpowering the surrounding design.
At The Silver Yard, the Goa Lounge Chair becomes part of a residential experience that connects the history of its location with the needs of contemporary living—a development where Birmingham’s manufacturing heritage provides the inspiration and the interiors reinterpret it for a new generation of residents.
Birmingham heritage through a contemporary eye. Classic and contemporary design brought together. Build to Rent interiors shaped around luxury, comfort and a sense of home.
